Final Batch Of BC Games Arrives For Xbox One As Microsoft Turns Its Attention To Project Scarlett
A major criticism leveled against the current generation of consoles from the outset was their complete lack of backwards compatibility, which forced users to cling to their outdated systems in order to continue playing their old favorites. This is why Microsoft's announcement of their Xbox 360 backwards compatibility initiative, which eventually extended to original Xbox games as well, was such a pleasant surprise a few years later. Over the years, new Xbox One backwards compatible games have been released gradually; now, Microsoft has formally declared that they will be the last group of BC releases as they turn to the future.
Microsoft chose to release the information via their Xbox Wire today even though they did not unveil any BC-related Xbox One announcements at their 2019 E3 conference yesterday. This contains brand-new Xbox One X upgraded games in addition to new BC original Xbox and Xbox 360 games. We have the following new BC additions, starting with original Xbox games.
- Armed and Dangerous
- Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb
- Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
- Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell Double Agent
- Unreal Championship 2: The Liandri Conflict
In addition to these titles, there are other free DLC packs for several of the original Xbox games as well as other earlier releases. There are even more updates for the Xbox 360, which comes with Too Human available to everyone for free.
- Asura’s Wrath
- Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
- Enchanted Arms
- Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
- Far Cry Classic
- Far Cry Instincts Predator
- Infinite Undiscovery
- Peter Jackson’s King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie
- Prince of Persia The Forgotten Sands
- Skate
- Star Ocean: The Last Hope
- Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
- Syndicate
- Too Human
- Unreal Tournament III
Additionally, eight additional Xbox One X Enhanced titles—all developed by Rare—have been included.
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Banjo-Kazooie Nuts & Bolts
- Banjo-Tooie
- Kameo Elements of Power
- Perfect Dark
- Perfect Dark Zero
- Viva Piñata
- Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise
This week, the Xbox 360 games will be introduced, although the Xbox One X Enhanced and original Xbox games are already accessible. While it is unfortunate to see this Xbox One program come to an end, we can still enjoy a ton of underappreciated titles and classics that have been added throughout the years.
