Pokemon Home Is Unveiled As Pokemon Bank's Successor
For the Nintendo 3DS, Pokemon Bank was first published in late 2013 as a means to save all of your Pokemon from Generation V forward and the Virtual Console versions of the previous games in one place. The Pokemon Company has revealed Pokemon Home, a replacement for Pokemon Bank, as a result of things becoming a little more difficult with the arrival of the Nintendo Switch, the Pokemon Let's Go games, the impending Pokemon Sword and Shield, and even Pokemon Go.
During a press conference conducted yesterday night, the Pokemon Company revealed a number of announcements, one of which was Pokemon Sleep. During that press conference, Pokemon Home—which seems to be the ultimate solution for linking your Pokemon games—was also unveiled.
Pokemon Home, like Pokemon Bank, is going to be a cloud-based service that lets you keep all of your Pokemon in one place. This time, however, the software will be accessible on mobile devices as well as the Nintendo Switch, rather than being limited to, say, the Nintendo 3DS.
To get your Nintendo 3DS Pokemon, you may move your Pokemon from Pokemon Bank to Pokemon Home. You can also move your Pokemon between the two Pokemon Let's Go games, Pokemon Sword and Shield, and Pokemon Go itself.
With the exception of Pokemon Sword and Shield, which can both receive and send Pokemon to Home from them, it seems like Pokemon will only be able to go one way to Pokemon Home from anything, according to the graphic above that was made public at the press conference. Nevertheless, Pokemon Home won't be accessible when Pokemon Sword and Shield launches later this year since it won't be out until early 2020.
Additionally, it was mentioned that you would be able to trade via Pokemon Home, but they haven't yet disclosed the specifics of how it will operate.
