Possible PC Release for Injustice 2
For the last several months, Injustice 2 has been available on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, leaving fans of the prequel high and dry if all they had access to was a PC. All of that might soon change, however, as a new listing on Amazon France makes it apparent that the website has a Injustice 2 PC Edition.
To be clear, nothing has been verified yet, and the listing itself is quite sparse, with the only details mentioned being that Warner Bros. Games will be producing the game and that it would be a Deluxe Edition. Beyond that, there's not really much to talk about in terms of box art or an actual release date.
Naturally, there are still conflicting feelings about the release of a PC version of Injustice 2 if this turns out to be accurate. While existing console owners will be able to experience the wonders of the game that only a PC could offer, fans on PC will finally be able to get their hands on their Injustice 2, and that depends greatly on the port being good, which previous evidence suggests it won't be.
In short, NetherRealm's fighting games have a very bad history on the PC.Both Mortal Kombat 9 and Injustice: Gods Among Us were unimpressive when they were first released on the PC, and many issues with each required quick fixes. Additionally, Mortal Kombat Trilogy still refuses to launch on Windows 10. The PC version of Mortal Kombat 10, which was a complete disaster when it first launched, was the worst offender, however. Before everything was rectified, customers on Steam completely blasted the port in their reviews (and some still don't recommend it) due to the faulty netcode, delayed updates, and general terrible performance.
It's possible that NetherRealm's overall lack of interest with any of the PC versions contributed to this dismal performance. NRS has always depended on other developers to do the task and has never made a PC version of one of its own titles. Therefore, it may not have come as a huge surprise (and maybe even a little relief) when a PC version of Injustice 2 didn't release with those on consoles.
But NRS has a major opportunity to make a significant turnaround with this delayed PC release. The changes made to the PC version of MKX demonstrate that NRS is able to manage a title on the PC. Given that, why not simply do it straight away, cutting out the middleman?
Taking control of Injustice 2 is the ideal chance for NetherRealm to erase the bad reputation that its PC games have accumulated over time.
