Final Fantasy VII Remake Gets a New Look, with More to Come Next Month
PlayStation's second State of Play video presentation took place today, May 9. A fresh look at the impending Final Fantasy VII remake was one of the announcements and revelations made at the event.
Since its first announcement at E3 in 2015, Square Enix has mostly kept quiet on the Final Fantasy VII remake. Now, over four years later, the much awaited remake's real character models and gameplay have finally been shown. A new teaser for the remake was shown at the State of Play event. It included the new models for characters like Aerith and Cloud, and for a brief moment, it even revealed Sephiroth's back. In addition, some gameplay was shown off to us. It adopts an action-RPG approach rather than the conventional turn-by-turn RPG principles seen in the 1997 original Final Fantasy VII.There is still so much to learn about this remake. Even after this new teaser appeared on PlayStation's State of Play, we still don't know whether the remake will be a PlayStation exclusive like the original was for an extended period of time or if it will be accessible on other systems as well. We don't even know its release window or date. Thankfully, the new teaser concluded with the words "More to come in June," so fans won't have to wait too long for further details.
