A Sneak Peek At The Monster Hunter Film
Making a movie out ofMonster Hunter is one way Capcom is making money off of the series' recent surge in popularity, and a recently released teaser gives hope that the film won't be as awful as first thought.
The 3:30-second teaser, which debuted at the Shanghai International Film Festival, has Tony Jaa and Milla Jovovich fighting a rather realistic-looking version of the Diablos as it rises out of the sand in a desert. The screen then flips to images of the Admiral and Handler before the Rathalos seems to be soaring through a wall of fire towards the screen.
Despite its briefness, the trailer helps the Paul W.S. Anderson-directed movie make a stronger first impression.
You may remember from the official description and first images that Jovovich (as Lt. Artemis) and her military unit will be sent to an other realm where the Monster Hunter animals live. But the images largely featured troops brandishing large weapons, with hardly any resemblance to traditional monster hunting gear.
It goes without saying that none of this gave the movie any credibility.
Thankfully, the one task this new video had to complete—looking likeMonster Hunter—was accomplished.
When it opens on September 4, 2020, perhaps the film lives up to the moniker Monster Hunter.
