April 2019 Xbox Live Games With Gold
As March draws to a close, it will soon be time for a fresh round of Xbox Live Games With Gold to be released for the following month. Usually, Microsoft releases these announcements within a week of the next month. Today, they did exactly that, revealing four titles that will be available on Xbox Live titles With Gold in April: two for Xbox One, one for Xbox 360, and one for the original Xbox.
April Fools' Day may have come and gone, but The Technomancer is real; it launches on April 1st on Xbox One and stays that way for the whole month. When Technomancer first came out in 2016, it wasn't the best-received game, but the Xbox One version had the best Metacritic score—68—among the versions.
Game of the Month Outcast – Second Chance, which has a middling Metacritic score of 67, will be available on Games With Gold in the second half of the month beginning on April 16. However, both games are now available for $39.99 on the Xbox Games Store, so this is a great opportunity to decide whether or not they are worth playing without having to shell out $40 for each.
However, the backwards compatible selection is a touch better, with Star Wars Battlefront II, an original Xbox game, launching the first part of the month. This is most definitely not the new Star Wars Battlefront II; rather, it's the 2005 original Star Wars Battlefront on Xbox. We'll have to see how well this stands up considering the game's Metacritic score of 83 when it was first launched. Given the recent Star Wars releases as GwG, it's hardly shocking that this one was previously published as backwards compatible.
Last but not least, this month's only Xbox 360 title is Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2, which back in 2006 scored a perfect 90 on Metacritic. It was not previously backwards compatible before to the announcement earlier today, so this was another pleasant surprise. Beginning on April 16th, this game will be accessible throughout the latter part of April.
Remember to buy the March titles that are still available since they will expire at the end of the month. These games include the Xbox 360 title Metal Gear Rising Revengeance and Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion for the Xbox One.
