Overwatch 2 Roadhog Rework: Detailed Changes and the New Pig Pen Ability

 Jul 24, 2024

The Underwatch community, irritated by Roadhog's lack of strength and utility, has expressed worries about the character. In response to this issue, Blizzard Entertainment is redesigning the character. Roadhog has undergone the following alterations, which include the addition of the Pig Pen ability.

Roadhog Rework: New Pig Pen Capability

Roadhog's biggest modification in Overwatch 2 is including a brand-new skill known as the Pig Pen. Roadhog will be able to throw down a trap that slows opponent mobility and causes heavy damage thanks to Pig Pen. when it comes into touch with an adversary. The "Take a Breather" talent will be superseded by this new ability, while it will still be accessible as a secondary skill.

The Roadhog Rework Will See Complete Changes

The main objective of Roadhog's redesign, according to the official Blizzard Entertainment blog article, is to "increase his presence as a tank character." And based on what we've seen in the patch notes, it seems that this assertion is accurate. See below for a list of all the updates coming to the Roadhog remake.

Scrap Gun

  • The previous secondary fire functionality has been removed.
  • Total damage per shot increased from 150 to 160.
  • The shotgun pellet count reduced from 25 to 16.

  • Now fires a shrapnel volley of 4 large projectiles in the center of the shot.
  • Each shrapnel projectile deals 15 damage.
  • The critical damage multiplier reduced from 2x to 1.5x.

  • Now activated by holding Secondary Fire.
  • The cooldown for each use decreased from 8 seconds to 1 second.
  • A new resource meter has been added. This meter will deplete while Take a Breather is active and recharge when not in use.
  • Take a Breather requires 12 seconds to reach full charge from empty.
  • Take a Breather can heal up to 450 health over 3 seconds at a full charge.
  • Take a Breather will now remain active as long as its assigned hotkey is held.
  • An option to “Toggle Take a Breather” has been added under Options > Controls > Roadhog.
  • Damage reduction decreased from 50% to 30%.
  • No longer amplifies healing received upon ending.

Pig Pen<
  • This is a new ability assigned to Ability 2 by default.
  • Launch a trap that slows and damages nearby enemies.
  • Deals 60 damage when triggered and 30 damage per second in an area.
  • 3-second duration once activated.
  • 40% movement speed slow.
  • Cooldown is 12 seconds.
Associated: In Overwatch 2, Blizzard Literally Buffs BrigitteAs you can see, Roadhog will be far more lethal and potent as a result of the upcoming redesign. Since Roadhog is my favorite character in Overwatch 2, I'm really looking forward to the new ability Pig Pen, the shortened cooldown for the Take a Breather ability, and the boosted damage on the Scrap Gun. For those who didn't think Roadhog was strong enough to belong in the Tank class, this together with everything else in the patch notes is ideal.

Date of Release for Roadhog Rework

The Roadhogs overhaul upgrade will launch on November 14, 2023, .. The game will get its first upgrade as part of the LE SSERAFIM partnership with this redesign. With one of the best designs and movesets in the whole game, Roadhog should be loved by gamers just as much as I do after the overhaul.
