Square Enix Is Not Sure How Many Titles Will Be in the Final Fantasy VII Remake Currently
We got our fair share of gameplay at Square Enix's E3 presentation last night, when the Final Fantasy VII Remake received the massive blowout it deserved. During the event, it was revealed that the initial game will cover just Midgar and would consist of two disks on its own. This made us speculate as to how many games Final Fantasy VII Remake might ultimately include, although it doesn't seem like Square Enix is certain just yet.
Three CDs made up the original Final Fantasy VII, and it took a long to get through the Midgar section. Many had theorized that the remake may be divided into two parts, the first of which would be Midgar and the second of which would be the remainder. However, a tweet from Jason Schreier of Kotaku, who talked with Yoshinori Kitase, the producer of the Final Fantasy VII Remake, at E3, suggests that this may not be the case.
When asked how many games will be included in the Final Fantasy VII remake, Yoshinori Kitase said that he couldn't answer for sure "because we don't know ourselves."

After that, someone replied to Schreier, stating that Square Enix is undoubtedly aware but is withholding information; he went on to state ."No, they were very clear. According to Kitase, they are currently planning out the scope for game 2."
The fact that they are still unsure of the game's total number of pieces is really intriguing. This indicates that the second game won't likely be released for some time. However, if there are more than two entries in the end, maybe they won't be too far apart. Final Fantasy VII Remake comes exclusively for PS4 on March 3, 2020.
