Ragnarok Tease Is Part of the New God of War Dynamic Theme
April 20th, over a year ago, saw the debut of the God of War remake, which received the highest ratings for the series to date. Your Journey Awaits is a free dynamic theme that Sony issued for PS4 customers last week in honor of the game's approaching one-year anniversary. However, several others spotted a possible sinister hint when they examined the topic more attentively.
In terms of both setting and gameplay, God of War drastically changed the course of the franchise. This relaunch placed more of an emphasis on Norse mythology than Greek mythology. On this voyage, Kratos' son Atreus accompanied him, and this free dynamic theme shows the two of them seated on a boat.
At first glance, this theme seemed to be quite conventional, however a Reddit user pointed out something intriguing that was concealed inside the theme. There are some runes engraved on the side of the boat that read, "Ragnarok is Coming," if you look attentively.
If you're unfamiliar with Ragnarok or just mistake it for a Thor movie, Ragnarok is basically the end of Norse mythology, when many gods perish. The phrase "Ragnarok is Coming" gives the impression that something is being hinted at, else there would be no need to add it.
The next issue is if this is a prelude to a follow-up or even DLC for the original game, or whether it is nothing at all. Beyond the dynamic theme and several free God of War avatars that are being released this week, director Cory Barlog had hinted at another surprise, but he clarified that it would not be a DLC announcement.
Though it seems premature to unveil a brand-new game, it is conceivable. It could possibly be DLC; however, not all of it will be revealed this week in honor of the game's one-year anniversary. Given the significance of Ragnarok for Norse mythology, teasing him is undoubtedly a huge thing, so we're eager to see what SIE Santa Monica Studio has in store for us.
