Overwatch 2 Season 1 Schedule: The Arrival of Kiriko, the Event of Junkenstein's Retaliation, and More

 Jul 24, 2024
Activision Blizzard has already released a roadmap outlining what to anticipate in Season 1 of Overwatch 2, which is coming extremely soon. Despite everything surrounding the switch to free-to-play and the future of the in-game economy, it will be one hell of a launch. Time will tell, but based on what we already know about the first season, it seems intriguing. This is what to anticipate.

Details of the Overwatch 2 Season 1 Roadmap

When Overwatch 2 debuts on October 4, Season 1 of the game will begin. According to the information provided by the developer, three new heroes will join the cast this season. Among these are the newly hinted-at Kiriko, Junker Queen, and the already-known Sojourn. When you launch the game, the last two will be automatically unlocked for free. For Kiriko, there are other ways to unlock her.

You may level your free battle pass to tier 55, purchase the premium battle pass or Watchpoint Pack, or unlock her if you have previously played the original Overwatch. That has received more than its fair share of justified criticism, but time will tell how this system functions in the future.

There Will Be Six New Maps

Along with the ones from the original game, an additional six new maps should be added to the game's collection. Many of them will be well known to those who took part in the beta periods.

Every New Skin

The roadmap also promises more than thirty new skins, most likely including the three new heroes with their extensive collections of commons, rares, epics, and legendaries. A new skin type that falls under the Mythic skin category will also be introduced.

The Genji Cyber Demon skin is the first example that we are aware of, and it will include adjustable patterns and color schemes. These Mythic skins in Overwatch allows the player choose a much more distinctive color scheme and pattern to set themselves apart from other players who could be wearing the same skins, in contrast to some of the existing skins that are essentially palette changes with the same model.

Perfect for Halloween

Finally, a Halloween-themed event centered on Junkrat will be included for Overwatch 2, whose first season will launch in October and run through December 6. For those who are not acquainted, the Junkenstein event will return under the name "Junkenstein's Revenge: Wrath of the Bride", a limited-time event. Information will be released as the date approaches.

October 4, 2022 is when Overwatch 2 will be launched. It will be accessible on PC, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One and Series consoles, and PlayStation 4 and 5.
