Elden Ring: Is It Appropriate to Serve Ranni?

 Jul 23, 2024

One of the most bizarre people in all of Elden Ring is Ranni the Witch, and any Tarnished that encounters her at Ranni's Rise is hesitant to serve her. In Elden Ring and other From Software games, making a pledge to a character is a significant commitment that might, in certain cases, prevent you from accessing specific questlines or even certain endings. On your journey to become Elden Lord, however, Ranni and her friends Blaidd the wolfman and Seluvis the sorcerer could prove to be invaluable allies. So, in Elden Ring, should you serve Ranni the Witch?

In Elden Ring, Should You Serve Ranni the Witch?

It is recommended that you serve Ranni in Elden Ring. Serving Ranni may change the course of your game significantly, even if there aren't any drawbacks to not serving her. You may go on with your trip as if nothing had occurred, pursuing the Erdtree just as you always have by refusing to serve Ranni.

But if you take Ranni's services, you'll have access to one of the biggest and trickiest storylines in the game, along with a cast of fascinating people. If you'd rather not commit right now, you may always come back later and decide to serve Ranni at a later time.

You will be taken to extraordinary optional areas that you would not have otherwise seen if you choose to serve Ranni. You can, of course, always find these locations on your own without ever speaking to Ranni, but occasionally having some guidance is helpful. A possibly different ending is also made possible by serving Ranni, depending on certain decisions you make later in the game. It's merely an additional path you may choose in the future; you're not committed to anything at this point in the narrative.

Ranni will, however, sometimes refuse to let you serve her, even if you would want to. You must first beat Starscourge Radahn in Caelid or Rennala, Queen of the Full Moon in the Raya Lucaria Academy in order to be allowed to serve her.

You may now play Elden Ring on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
