Now that the beta is in players' hands, everyone has an opinion on the new 5v5 structure, but most Overwatch players will agree that the 6v6 structure and 2/2/2 team composition are what make Overwatch Overwatch.

In Overwatch 2, why is 5v5 such a big deal?

What Gamers Think of the 5v5 Switch

Players' opinions on the switch to 5v5 in Overwatch 2 are mostly divided. Since they can now land shots much more readily and spend less time firing at shields waiting for an opening to push, some players—mostly DPS mains—are pleased with the new update.

The Overwatch 2 beta is also presently plagued by various problems, such as Mercy's Ultimate ability not functioning as planned and Orisa seeming a little overpowered in comparison to other Tank characters.

Though the 5v5 debate will probably carry on until Overwatch 2 launches, all Overwatch players will need to get used to the new system as the sequel will completely replace the first game when it launches. when the game approaches release, expect to see a lot of intense debate in the Overwatch community, particularly when the Overwatch League begins to use Overwatch 2 as its primary game.
