Level 1
Players that choose a Warlock at level 1 may choose from three different subclasses. There are three: The Fiend, The Great Old One, and The Archfey. You may read a quick synopsis of each below.
The Fiend
The first feature, Dark One's Blessing, will be awarded to the Fiend. This is a passive trait that gives you temporary health points equal to your Warlock level and Charisma modifier anytime you bring a hostile creature's hit points down to zero.
- Level 1 – Dark One’s Blessing (Subclass Feature)
- Level 6 – Dark One’s Own Luck (Subclass Feature)
- Level 10 – Fiendish Resilience (Action)
The Mighty Ancient One
Initially, the Mortal Reminder feature will be awarded to the Great Old One subtype. Every time you strike a critical hit, this trait will make any adjacent opponents and creatures scared until the end of their next turn.
- Level 1 – Mortal Reminder
- Level 6 – Entropic Ward (Subclass Feature)
- Level 10 – Thought Shield: Psychic Resistance (Subclass Feature), Thought Shield: Psychic Reflection (Subclass Feature)
The Archfey
Two traits and one action will be bestowed to the Archfey. The Fey Presence action in addition to the two features, Misty Escape and Beguiling Defenses. After receiving damage, players may use Misty Escape to become invisible. However, they can lose their invisibility the next round by casting Misty Step. At level 10, players may acquire Beguiling Defenses, which make them resistant to charms. Finally, the ability to Charm or Frighten adjacent enemies with the alluring and unsettling magics of the Feywild is provided by Fey Presence.- Level 1 – Fey Presence (Action)
- Level 6 – Misty Escape (Subclass Feature)
- Level 10 – Beguiling Defences (Subclass Feature)
Level 3
Players may choose one of the three possible Pact Boons at level 3. Pact Boons add to your toolkit and give you special skills that change the way you play. Pact of the Chain, Pact of the Blade, and Pact of the Tome are the three pact boons that the Warlock may use at level 3. See their results below.Level 4 - Pact of the Chain – Gain the service of a familiar, fey spirit that takes a form you choose. This can be an animal, imp, or quasit.
- Pact of the Blade – You can summon a pact weapon or Bind the one you are wielding, making it magical. Pact weapons use the wielder’s Spellcasting Ability Modifier instead of Strength or Dexterity.
- Pact of the Tome – Your patron grants you a grimoire called “The Book of Shadows,” which allows you to cast Guidance, Vicious Mockery, and Thorn Whip.
As a Warlock, you may choose a feat after you've reached level 4. Feats are extraordinary skills that give your character special powers. They could also provide your build an additional passive. You may enhance one Ability by two or two Abilities by one by obtaining the Ability Improvement Feat at level 4.Level 5 A Warlock may use the Deepend Pact class feature after level 5. The impact will vary according on the prior Pact Boon you choose. The effects of each Pact Boon that may be obtained via unlocking Deepened Pact are listed below.- Pact of the Blade – Gain an extra attack with your pact weapon.
- Pact of the Chain – Your familiar gains an extra attack.
- Pact of the Tome – You gain Animate Dead, Haste, and Call Lightning once per long rest.
Level 6
Depending on the subclass they initially choose, Warlocks will unlock a feature at level 6; a full list of characteristics that correlate with your subclass may be seen below.- The Fiend: Dark One’s Own Luck – Call on your patron to change your fate and add a 1d10 to an Ability Check once per short rest.
- The Great Old One: Entropic Ward – As a reaction, you can impose a Disadvantage on an Attack Roll against you. If the attack misses, you gain an Advantage on your next attack roll against your attacker for one turn.
- The Archfey: Mighty Escape – Upon taking damage, become invisible. You can cast Misty Step on your next turn, though this will break your invisibility.
Stage 7
With a Warlock, you may activate another Eldritch Invocation when you get to level 7. Sculptor of Flesh is the one I suggest using to cast Polymorph.Level 8
Warlocks may choose an additional accomplishment from the list at level 8. The War Caster Feat is your best option since it will give you an advantage on saving throws so that you can keep your concentration on a spell. Additionally, you may cast Shocking Grasp upon a target that is moving out of melee range by using a response. Make sure this is the playstyle you prefer before selecting this feat.Associated: Which Baldur's Gate 3 Sorcerer Subclass is best? Storm Sorcery, Draconic Bloodline, or Wild Magic?Level 9 At level 9, players have the option to choose another Eldritch Invocation. Your greatest option at this level is Otherworldly Leap, as it has the ability to cast Enhance Leap.Level 10
Level 10 will provide you access to a subclass feature that is exclusive to the subclass you first selected in the game. See them all down below.- The Fiend: Fiendish Resilience – Choose a damage type and become resistant to it. You can pick a new damage type for each Short Rest.
- The Great Old One: Thought Shield, Psychic Resistance – An elder brain shields your brain. You gain resistance to psychic damage.
- The Great Old One: Thought Shield: Psychic Reflection – Your patron doesn’t appreciate attempts to attack your mind. When you take Psychic damage, your attacker takes the same damage.
- The Archfey: Beguiling Defences – You have built stoic barriers in your heart and mind and cannot be charmed.
